  • Jamie Alves - Co-Founder, Executive Director, & President

    Jamie is the Executive Director and President of Rockland Wildlife where she leads with deep compassion, expertise, and a lifelong dream of helping animals. A New York State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and Federal Migratory Bird Rehabilitator Subpermittee, Jamie specializes in the rehabilitation of songbirds and neonatal squirrels

    In addition to her wildlife work, Jamie is the proud owner of two yoga studios in Rockland County, New York, where she cultivates inclusive, trauma-informed spaces for healing and community. With over a decade of teaching and leadership experience, Jamie has become known for her accessible and heart-centered approach to yoga, offering support to her community.

    Jamie also serves as a board member for Three and a Half Acres Yoga (THAY), a nonprofit dedicated to bringing trauma-informed yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork to underserved communities. Her work across both animal welfare and human well-being is driven by the same mission: to offer care, connection, and the chance to heal.

  • Andres - Co-Founder & Secretary

    Andres brings a blend of clinical skill, creativity, and compassion to the care of wild animals. A New York State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and Federal Migratory Bird Rehabilitator Subpermittee, Andres specializes in the rehabilitation of large mammals such as coyotes and foxes, and animals with spinal cord injuries or neurologic conditions, often crafting innovative treatment approaches to help them regain mobility, comfort, and independence.

    As a neurological physical therapist for humans, Andres bridges the worlds of physical therapy and wildlife rehabilitation, applying his understanding of anatomy, and the nervous system to help the animals in his care.

    Known for his patience, problem-solving, and deep empathy, Andres plays a vital role in advancing the rescue’s mission to provide expert, compassionate care to Rockland County’s wildlife.

  • David Gulkowitz – Co-Founder & Treasurer

    As a board member at Rockland Wildlife, David gets to combine his lifelong passion for wildlife and conservation with his experience and leadership in sustainable finance. A dedicated scuba diver for over 25 years, David has explored marine ecosystems around the world and has witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of climate change on ocean life. These experiences have deepened his commitment to environmental protection and inspired his work at the intersection of nature and sustainability.

    Professionally, David is a pioneer in sustainability within the financial sector. He co-founded one of the largest sustainability-focused funds in the U.S. alternative asset industry and serves as Chairman of his industry’s Advisory Committee for the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investing (UN PRI), the leading global NGO focused on Responsibility and Sustainability within the finance industry. He has spoken internationally on sustainability as a speaker and thought leader, working to establish standards that help financial institutions incorporate sustainability into their core operations.

    At Rockland Wildlife, David brings his entrepreneurial spirit, organizational expertise, and strategic insight to help build a strong foundation for the organization’s mission. His leadership ensures that Rockland Wildlife is not only driven by passion but also guided by sound governance and long-term vision.

  • Sarah Gulkowitz – Junior Board Member

    At just 15 years old, Sarah is a passionate junior board member and one of the founders of Rockland Wildlife. A lifelong animal lover, Sarah has been immersed in the world of wildlife and animal care since the age of six, when she began training and volunteering with horses. Her deep connection to animals has only grown over the years.

    Sarah is also a certified scuba diver and has spent the past two summers diving with ConnectOcean, a marine conservation organization dedicated to protecting ocean wildlife. Her hands-on experience with both land and marine animals fuels her mission to create a better world for all creatures.

    Sarah brings youthful energy and compassion, and through Rockland Wildlife, Sarah hopes to inspire other young people to act for the environment and become stewards of the natural world.

  • Meghan Raquet - Wildlife Rehabilitator

    With a dream of rehabilitating animals since she was 8, Meghan brings a deeply-rooted passion and endless quest for knowledge to this mission.

    A New York State Licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and in the process of getting her RVS Assistant license, Meghan specializes in the rehabilitation of small mammals such as eastern cottontail rabbits, opossums and groundhogs, and plans on expanding to reptiles and amphibians in the future.

    When she’s not helping wildlife, Meghan works at a nonprofit for individuals with disabilities and mental health issues, doing art with children and young adults and helping people gain independence and have a more enriching and happy life.

    Being a musician and artist, she uses her skills to support her lifelong dream of helping others, human and animal, bringing comfort and joy to those who need it most.
